You have surely already noticed that when riding on an electric bike above 16mph (25 km/h), the motor of your electric bike automatically shuts off due to the speed limit. If you wish to remove the speed limit of the electric bike, there is nothing easier than installing a tuning part that removes this speed limit. You can achieve higher speeds, and everything is limited only by the pedaling rate. In our experience, it is possible to ride at a speed of  37 mph (60 km/h) or even more with SpeedBox tuning, and that is already a proper speed!

After installation, the tuning is activated by pressing:

• WALK and UP buttons in a very short sequence.
• or WALK button.

A value of 6.2 mph  (9.9 km/h) appears on the display for approx 3 seconds. This signal confirms that the tuning is activated and that the motor is now fully derestricted for speed up to 62 mph (99km/h).

The tuning is deactivated by pressing the same sequence you did activate it, either WALK and UP, or WALK button. A value of 1.6 mph (2.5 km/h) appears on the display for approx 3 second. Now, the tuning chip is deactivated and the motor support is reset to its original limitation of 16 mph (25 km/h). 

If your eBike manufacturer speed limit is set up to 16mph - 20mph (25km/h or 28km/h) your speed limit will be increased up to 62 mph (99km/h).

But if it is set up 28mph (45km/h) this tuning kit will not work with your ebike.

After the chip is installed your e-bike’s display shows real data, such as maximum and average speed, daily mileage and cruising range.

Please be aware that Tuning kit do not add extra power to your eBike, it removes speed limits.

The tuning it removes the speed limitation of your motor and does not increase the motor power output. It simply removes the speed limiter which cuts the assistance over 16mph (25km/h). What is does is keep the motor assist on until you can no longer pedal any faster due to limitations of bike gearing or leg-work. With the tuning active it is hard to determine the battery consumption since there are many factors involved such as riding style, terrain, cadence, and etc. As a role of thumb, expect the battery drainage to be in the +/-10% range.

No - SpeedBox 2.1 for Giant is not compatible with the Speedbox App.

Of course, you can. When using a SpeedBox to increase the speed of your electric bike, it does not matter whether you measure the speed in km/h or in mph.

SpeedBox products function with bikes with the original factory dual batteries without any troubles. However, there could be a problem with batteries installed later. E-bikes with additional redesign are not compatible with SpeedBox products.

The new Giant ebike tuning kit - SpeedBox 2.1 has no speed limitations at all. When using it you are limited only by the frequency of pedaling and the size of chainrings. In our experience, it is possible to ride at the speed of up 62 mph (99 km/h) or even more. 

Can I plug in/out the SpeedBox chip whenever I need?

Of course, the SpeedBox tuning chip can be easily installed in an e-bike by plugging in a few connectors. The assembly and disassembly is therefore very simple without causing any destructive changes.

The speed of 46 mph (75 km/h) appears on the display after installing the SpeedBox chip for Bosch and reaching the speed of 16 mph (25 km/h).

The connectors might be plugged in wrong. Disconnect the SpeedBox and make sure that the connector with the "To Speed Sensor" sign is not connected to the light connectors.

After installing SpeedBox for GIANT, the whole system turns off after a few seconds

An error might have happened during installation of your SpeedBox. Check whether you have accidentally plugged the SpeedBox into the red connector. If so, disconnect the red connector and plug it in according to the manual. The red connector is not used for connecting SpeedBox chips.

Recommended settings for derestricting brand new ebike.

If you want to install SpeedBox on a new bike, it is necessary to ride it for at least 1mile (1 km). Before the actual installation, we recommend trying out your e-bike properly and checking how the system functions in a normal operation.
