Stark Varg Metal cap o-ring

This o-ring seats between the metal cap and its housing, sealing the joint so nothing passes around the cap. Being an elastomer seal rather than a load-bearing part, it takes a permanent set with age and compression, and a ring that has flattened or hardened will not seal as it did new.
