Frequently Asked Questions
- DIY system. Almost no technical knowledge is required from you! You will not need to do any wiring, nor have any special tools. All you need to do is setup your device using the Monimoto app and attach it to your motorcycle (or any other vehicle that you wish to protect: like a car, tractor, caravan, camper, boat, etc.).
- You do not need to change batteries every 2 weeks. Monimoto batteries last for a very long time. Depending on the type of batteries and the number of alarms you get, they should easily last around a year.
- Monimoto also has an international SIM card inside that works in many countries.
- Monimoto doesn't drain your motorcycle’s 12V or 6V battery. Your bike is guaranteed to start. Monimoto will never breach your bike's warranty.
- Device calls your mobile phone in one minute to notify you of the unauthorized vehicle use. You will be notified immediately, compared to other trackers that just send text messages or emails, which nowadays can be left ignored. A phone call is rarely left unanswered!
Monimoto will only notify you that your motorcycle is moving by giving you a call and sending you a push notification from the app (not an SMS message!). It will not sound an alarm, block any mechanical parts of your motorcycle, or give itself away in any other way.
It is not possible to see the location of Monimoto at any given time. Monimoto sleeps all the time and can only send locations when it is in Alarm mode.
Such functionality allows the device to work for around one year, without having to replace the batteries. We could implement the "get location" functionality, but the advantage of long battery life would be lost.
However if enabled, Monimoto can send it's location with the regular update every 24 hours. This feature reduces battery lifetime and by default is disabled.
Additional feature 'Active Tracking':
If your device was stolen with a Key Fob, you can go to Settings and press 'Start Active Tracking'. This will unpair all Key Fobs with the next regular update and allow the device to alarm even if a Key Fob is nearby. Depending on how much time is left until your next regular update, it can take between 5 minutes and 24 hours with the default setting. For example, if your next regular update is in 10 days, the device will delete the Key Fob and enter an Alarm state then.
Without your Key Fob nearby, Monimoto will enter Alarm mode. It will start sending you location notifications every 5 minutes while the vehicle is moving. If movement stops the user receives a notification movement is stopped and after approximately 30 minutes the user receives a final location of the vehicle, and the alarm is cancelled. If at any time after the alarm was cancelled movement is detected again, the system will automatically start the alarm and the cycle will start again.
Live tracking – You can manually request a faster interval of locations during alarm mode. It will provide you with a location update every 1-2 minutes for 10 minutes in a row. After that it will go back to its regular 5 minute intervals and you can start Live Tracking again.
Live tracking can only work if there is movement and the device is able to send GPS locations.
Note: It will reduce your battery life considerably.
