VOLspeed E-Bike Tuning Kit for Giant Syncdrive Sport / Pro / Life / Core V5

The VOLspeed V5 is a smart tuning kit offering the unique capability to set both the speed limit and the downshift behavior, as well as the wheel circumference, via the display. With VOLspeed, you can view real data such as maximum and average speeds, daily mileage, and cruising range.

Unlike other tuning modules that nearly eliminate the speed limit, this module allows for a very sporty riding style with moderate battery consumption by slightly increasing the limit, e.g., to 32 km/h. If desired, you can adjust the limit using the "Plus" and "Minus" keys, with possible values ranging from 25 to 45 km/h (15.5 to 28 mph), the default being 32 km/h (20 mph). The set value is retained until you decide to change it.

For a more natural riding experience, the dynamic mode expands the downshift across a broader speed range, significantly reducing the so-called "wall effect."

To be able to use all the functions of the tuning, the display of the total kilometres and the speed is required. If your e-bike does not have a display, you can also use the Ridecontrol app for this.

The tuning kit manipulates the speed signal without altering the motor's power relative to pedaling speed, ensuring smooth motor control free from interruptions by speed limits. The achievable speed largely depends on the eBike model and can be calculated using the following formula:

Speed = Cadence [rpm] * Wheel circumference [mm] * Front Chainring Teeth / Rear Chainring Teeth * 60 [min/h] / 1,000,000 [mm/km]

VOLspeed can be activated directly on your bike’s controllers by pressing the [- + - +] sequence. Upon activation, the speed limit is displayed for 5 seconds. Default value: 20 mph (32 km/h). If you would like to change the maximum speed, use the [+/-] keys. The set value is saved until you change it.

To deactivate the tuning kit, press the [- + - +] sequence again.

The tuning is automatically switched off each time the bike is turned on.

VOLspeed V5 features a "softer curtailment behavior" (dynamic mode), which significantly softens the otherwise abrupt deceleration at the speed limit. It ensures correct display of speed, distance covered, and average speed at all times, as well as accurate total mileage of the bike even after the tuning module has been removed. The wheel circumference is adjustable (+/-10%) to improve the accuracy of the speed display and distance measurement.

This tuning kit is compatible with: SyncDrive Sport (70Nm), SyncDrive Pro (80Nm), SyncDrive Life (60Nm), SyncDrive Core (55Nm).

Not compatible with: - All original Yamaha motors (PW, PW-X, PW-X2, PW-X3, PW-X4, PW-SE, PW-TE, PW-ST). - SyncDrive motors before model year 2017. - SyncDrive Pro2, Pro3, Pro3x, Sport2, Sport3 from model year 2022 onwards.

When connecting Tuning Kit to an e-bike you will find connectors colored to make installation very simple. We have prepared detailed instructions and videos to make installation easy for you. Disassembly of our tuning kit is just as easy. If you have any troubles with installation or disassembly, do not hesitate to contact us. If you are planning to install Volspeed on a brand-new bike, make sure you ride it for at least 0.6 miles (1 km) before the tuning kit is activated.
