Electric motorcycles are quiet, so it can seem as if you can ride them anywhere. You cannot – where you may ride depends on whether the bike is registered. And first rides have their own challenges, because an electric motor delivers its torque instantly.
Where you can ride
| Place | Road legal (L1e / L3e) | Off-road version |
|---|---|---|
| Public roads | Yes, with licence and insurance | No |
| Motocross and enduro tracks | Yes (track rules apply) | Yes |
| Private land | Yes, with the owner’s permission | Yes, with the owner’s permission |
| Forests off-road, meadows, beaches | No | No |
In Lithuania riding motor vehicles in forests off designated roads, in protected areas and on other people’s land is prohibited, so the best places for an off-road bike are tracks and private land. More on registration in L1e or L3e: licence and registration.
How to avoid problems
- get the landowner’s permission and follow their rules;
- avoid residential areas early in the morning and in the evening – even a quiet bike disturbs;
- stay off crops, meadows and wet ground – ruts damage relations with locals;
- on a track, follow the direction and the schedule.
First-ride safety
An electric motor delivers peak torque instantly, so take your first rides carefully:
- Start in the lowest mode (Eco) and add power as you get used to it.
- Learn to brake – practise front and rear braking in an open area.
- Be gentle with the throttle – a sudden twist can lift the front wheel.
- Stand on the pegs for better control on rough ground.
- Do not ride alone and tell someone where you are going.
Essential gear
A helmet is mandatory, but we recommend the full set: goggles, gloves, chest and back protection, knee guards and boots. You will find it all in our FOX riding gear collection.
